He opts to write in his journal, send text messages, or have his phone to type what he wants to say aloud. Ben used to have an interest in singing, but had his vocal cords permanently damaged by bullies in school. The incident led him down a spiral of getting into street fights, neglecting school, and frequent mood swings. After finding out that he had anger issues and having messed with the wrong kid and caused a gang to burn his house down, he started living with Aiden and his parents. He began therapy soon thereafter and is currently shown to be level-headed in most situations. After injuring his voice, Ben struggled and continues to struggle with his sense of self and is often shown to differ to Aiden, going along with whatever he decides.Episode 1 Ben is one of the protagonists of School Bus Graveyard.

Mindy Kaling's Netflix show "Never Have I Ever" chronicles high schooler Devi Vishwakumar's quest for popularity. This is the unofficial forum for discussions, videos, reviews, fan-art, and wholesome enjoyment of the show. ... Real question - if Ben is so rich, and his parents are so obsessed with status, why does he attend a public high school? They supplement it with all the private tutoring that Ben wants. And it seems like a lot of the pressure to do well comes from Ben himself and it's entirely possible that Ben's dad doesn't see the need for Ben to go to an expensive private school since he himself was able to work his way up and get to Columbia without it.Especially if the parents became crazy rich themselves, not by families. They just want their kids to experience public school and have a normal life. ... I agree its not uncommon in general, but for the way they describe Ben Gross and his family, it feels odd...In real life, some of the public schools in wealthy areas of west LA have as many resources/donors as the private schools, such as Beverly Hills High. But then again, Ben wants to be on top to go to Columbia so I agree with others it's probably to be a big fish in a small pond and be valedictorian.

Ben is grateful, but can't accept it. Ben turns to leave, but Jed tells him he can't because of the barrier spell. Ben, however, simply walks through it. The blood of a god flows through his veins. Magic cannot hold him. He bids Jed farewell and leaves the school.
In Follow the Sound of My Voice, at the Salvatore School, Ben prepares for his first day of classes, meeting up with Jed. He's overwhelmed, Jed tells him that if he sticks with him, he's a legendary first-day wingman. Ben wonders if anyone else knows who or what he is, but Jed reassures him that he'll fit in fine.Ben mocks her, though in response, she breaks his shin with her foot when she learns the blue calamus doesn't work on him. He laughs off the pain as he's kind of used to excruciating pain at this point. An occupational hazard. Aurora, however, decides to threaten the students of the school. If he doesn't start talking, she's going back to the school, killing every single student, one by one. Every death will be his fault. He tells her the information she seeks and she shoves a knife into his chest, killing him. Later that night, Ben recovers on Cleo's bed, having fulling healed. In Was This the Monster You Saw?, Ben offers his assistance to Jed, struggling with a foam stake launcher they use for training. Jed believes he has things handled and converting it into a confetti cannon for Dr. Saltzman's return to the school. However, he soon relents and accepts Ben's help.
